    FAMILY DEVOTIONS

We look ahead to Sundays' readings, which focus on Jesus' baptism.

    MONDAY, January 7

Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. Romans 6:3-4

    MONDAY, December 30

I will tell of the kindnesses of the Lord, the deeds for which he is to be praised, according to all the Lord has done for us – yes, the many good things he has done for the house of Israel, according to his compassion and many kindnesses.  He said, “Surely they are my people, sons who will not be false to me,” and so he became their Savior. Isaiah 63:7-8

    FAMILY DEVOTIONS

This is our final week focused on the sufficiency of Scripture.  We remember only grace, only faith, only Christ, only to the glory of God, and only Scripture!

    MONDAY, November 18

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. Ephesians 2:8-9

Family Devotions The Scriptures are sufficient for history, science, family, and the church.

    MONDAY, November 11

He who loves money will not be satisfied with money, nor he who loves wealth with his income; this also is vanity. There is a grievous evil that I have seen under the sun: riches were kept by their owner to his hurt, and those riches were lost in a bad venture. And he is father of a son, but he has nothing in his hand. Ecclesiastes 5:10, 13-14

    FAMILY DEVOTIONS

The Sufficiency of Scriptures is important for us to understand, along with the four levels of Scripture.

    MONDAY, November 4

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.  2 Timothy 3:16-17

    FAMILY DEVOTIONS

This week we continue exploring the "sufficiency of Scripture" by examining the two primary ways we tend to err.

    MONDAY, Oct 28

Everything that I command you, you shall be careful to do. You shall not add to it or take from it. Deuteronomy 12:32

    FAMILY DEVOTIONS

God's Word is sufficient for every area of our lives.  We continue studying this important doctrine.

    MONDAY, Oct 21

But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 2 Timothy 3:14-15

FAMILY DEVOTIONS - Is God's Word truly enough for us?  Our devotions over the next few weeks will address this cataclysmic question and the ramifications of each answer.

    MONDAY, Oct 14

I bow down toward your holy temple and give thanks to your name for your steadfast love and your faithfulness, for you have exalted above all things your name and your word. Psalm 138:2

On Saturday, St. John welcomes Pastor Jeffrey Corder and his family, and Pastor Corder will be installed.  This week we use the hymn "God of the Prophets" as the basis for our prayers and preparation for the installation and Pastor Corder's ministry at St. John.  We thank God for His provision of a new shepherd!
